First, the engine shut off knob became really hard to pull. Then it got worse until it was impossible to shut the engine off by pulling the knob so I tied a rope around the knob and then I could pull hard enough on the rope to shut the engine off. I could live with that.

Then, it got so it wouldn't START unless I opened the hood and moved the lever forward so it would open again. Still, I could live with that too.

But then, even with the rope it was not enough, now I can't shut the engine off unless I open the hood and pull back on the lever. What next, a steel rod to pull back and forth on the stupid shut off valve?

How do you replace the shut off valve? It seems impossible to even get to it under all that engine stuff. Or maybe just spray it with WD 40?

Anybody else ever have a stuck shut off valve?

Morgan,

I just bought a Kubota L3000DT yesterday and noticed the same problem. Not sure what model you have but it was a easy fix on my machine. I was able to bend the metal piece in that was causing the stop rod to hang up. Look close and you should see what i'm talking about. It now catches just enough to slide back and forth without all the force.

Good Luck. Let me know if it works. ....

I had the same problem on my L3000DT. At first it worked a little mean then it got down right hard, I was able to flex the stop rod just right to get it to move. The dealer pick up the tractor for some warrantte work and they told me they fixed it, which they did now it works real easy. On of the brackets was bent up a little too far, it a five minute fix

Randy ....

The stuff even works for killing yellow-jacket wasps but you have to get pretty close. ....

Good for keeping stumps from growing suckers. Cut the tree and squirt some WD on it.

Of course gasoline is cheaper! Love to watch them burning stumps. ....
